Pools – With the average pool being close to 1000 sqft of surface area and in some cases 1 mile of pipes, we are very well versed in solving water loss issues related to your pool.
Spas – Spas are some of the most complex leak locating jobs we are challenged with. Even though the structures are smaller than a pool. Spas have pipes and plumbing bundles in close proximity to each other, set in solid concrete, making locating very technical. How We Detect Pool Leaks
Step 1 — Conversation
We start by talking with you. When did the water loss start? How fast is it dropping? Does it change when the pump is running vs. off?
Step 2 — Visual Inspection
Our technicians inspect every visible inch of your pool, spa, and equipment. We check skimmers, returns, light niches, tile line, and pool surface.
Step 3 — Dye Testing
We apply specialized leak detection dye near suspected areas. If water is escaping through a crack, the dye is visibly drawn toward the leak.
Step 4 — Pressure Testing
Each underground pipe is individually isolated and pressurized. If a pipe can’t hold pressure, we know it’s leaking.
Step 5 — Acoustic Detection
For underground leaks, we use highly sensitive acoustic listening equipment. Water escaping from a pressurized pipe creates a distinct sound.
Step 6 — Leak Verification
Before we dig, we verify. We combine acoustic findings with pressure test data and dye test results to confirm the leak location within a 2×2 foot area.
