Common Questions About Leak Detection
Have a question about pool leaks, home water leaks, or our services? Find answers below or call 480-794-0959.
Pool Leak Detection
How do I know if my pool has a leak?
Watch for these signs: water level drops faster than normal evaporation (about 1/4 inch per day in Arizona), water bill spikes, wet or soggy spots around the pool deck, pool pump loses prime, or cracks in the pool surface.
How does pool leak detection work?
Our technicians use dye testing, pressure testing of each underground pipe, and acoustic listening equipment to pinpoint leaks within a 2×2 foot area — usually without draining your pool.
Do you have to drain my pool?
Almost never. We have proprietary methods that allow us to detect and repair most leaks without draining. We only drain when repairs require access beneath the pool shell, which is rare.
How long does pool leak detection take?
A typical detection appointment takes 2 to 4 hours. Simple leaks may be found in under an hour. Complex underground plumbing leaks may take longer.
How much does pool leak detection cost?
Detection costs range from $175 to $600 depending on complexity. Most repairs fall between $500 and $1,500. We provide transparent pricing before any work begins.
Do you also fix the leak?
Yes — we detect, repair, and restore your deck. That’s what makes Leak Science different. One call, one company, start to finish.
Home Water Leaks
How do I know if I have a water leak in my home?
Common signs include: unexplained increase in water bill, sound of running water when nothing is on, wet spots on walls or ceilings, musty smells, low water pressure, or a water meter spinning with all water shut off.
What is a slab leak?
A slab leak is a leak in a water pipe running beneath your home’s concrete foundation. They’re common in Phoenix homes with copper plumbing, especially those built before 2000.
How do you find slab leaks?
We use acoustic listening equipment to hear water escaping from pressurized pipes beneath the slab. This non-invasive approach lets us pinpoint the leak without jackhammering your floor first.
